Pas 43

Pas 43 is the industry standard for the recovery and breakdown industry.

This standard is a requirement for most club and insurance work as well as police contracts.
The standard accreditation is achieved through inspection by a ucas accredited inspection body.

To be a certified company you will need to meet the recommendation's laid down in pas 43.

In short this means the following must be achieved

Operatives and all staff are trained to the required standard.
Vehicles and all associated equipment tested and certified to the required standard. (lola)
All vehicles and equipment inspected and serviced to the agreed standards and time table.
All vehicle livery and lighting has to be to standards agreed.
All records to be kept to the standards agreed.
All management systems and documentation has to be to the required standard.
Insurance is to be to required standard.
All safety management systems to be in place and fully monitored to required standards.

For the end user/customer this means the following.

Using a Pas 43 company is the only way you will know the recovery/breakdown service you are using has achieved the minimum standards that are excepted safe practices.

That they are trained correctly to undertake the operations your vehicle requires.

That they have in place the correct insurance to carry out the work your vehicle requires.

That the recovery vehicle is a fully licensed and legal vehicle that conforms to legal standards. and is maintained to a high standard.

Keep full and correct information on every incident undertaken. ( this may be required at a later time by you or your insurance company or solicitor ect.
